Successful Bible Reading:

1. Arrange A Time and Place. Work It Into Your Schedule. Do It In A Quiet Place. Make It A Habit.

2. Follow A Plan. Don’t Just Open It and Read A Random Text. Have A Pattern To Your Reading.

3. Look For Life Application. Note Verses and Principles To Live By.

4. Use An Accurate And Understandable Translation. NRSV, NIV or TNIV, and NAS Are Examples of Godd Translations.

5. Discipline Yourself. Do Not Give Yourself Excuses To Not Read.The Bible Daily. Do Whatever It Takes To Carve Out Some Daily Time To Read.

 

Listening To A Sermon:

1. Take Notes. Compose An Outline.

2. Get Plenty Of Rest The Night Before.

3. Follow Along In Your Bible. Turn To The Passages Mentioned.

4. Sit Toward the Front. It Can Prevent Distractions.

5. Don’t Let Others Distract You.

6. Don’t Distract Others.

7. Pray Before Church So That You May Be Alert, Attentive, And Obedient.

8. Prepare In Plenty of Time. Don’t Be Rushed. Arrive in Enough Time To Prepare Yourself To Listen.

 

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. -2 Timothy 3:14-17
